Applications for apprenticeships are open for people aged 16 years plus who live in England. Employment is a fundamental part of an apprenticeship as an apprentice must be employed in a job role with a productive purpose. It is a way for people to earn while learning in a real job, gaining a real qualification and a real future. There are currently 250 types of Apprenticeship which are arranged around an Apprenticeship Framework which typically includes a nationally recognised vocational qualification. There are currently three levels of apprenticeship – Intermediate, Advanced and Higher. Financial support is available for qualifying employers. It is a free service that enables employers to post jobs online and uses technology designed to speed up the recruitment process by automatically matching job seeker CVs and skills to jobs posted by employers. Although registered job seekers must use UJM as part of their job search activity, it is also available for all job seekers and employers to use through a simple registration process.
