A SUMMARY

In late 2002 the Storrington Parish Council, along with a few village volunteers, started a Healthcheck process to examine the factors and issues affecting the viability and quality of life in the village. This process was being promoted throughout the Country, and locally by The Countryside Agency, Action in Rural Sussex and Horsham District and West Sussex County Councils. The purpose of the Healthcheck was to derive a Plan of Action to leading to projects to address, arrest, and, where possible, reverse unfavourable trends.
Completion of the Healthcheck Process and the preparation of an Action Plan qualifies the village for access to ring-fenced Regional Funds to enable project implementation, though within narrowly defined criteria.

In April 2003, the villages of Storrington & Sullington, for many years essentially one community, fused their separate Parish Councils into one. The new Council continued to support the work of the volunteers and the consultations taking place in the village, and, in October 2003, adopted the Action Plan as a framework for future planning.

On the 30th of March 2004, The Storrington & Sullington Community Partnership formally came into being, and now operates under the guidance of a Management Committee.

Storrington & Sullington Community Partnership, based at the Children and Family Centre, Little Footsteps, 24 - 26 West Street, have now resumed the Information Service, that was previously offered from Forge House to people of all ages.

Each Monday afternoon, between 1.30 and 4.00, anyone seeking community and local information may call in to speak to a Partnership member. You may have a query about local transport and seek guidance on accessing details of the available options. You may have special needs, requiring community transport or you may simply need to know more about how to get to your destination using public transport.

The Partnership supports local voluntary organisations and aims to work with all community service providers to help meet the needs of local people. If you wish to find out about services that could give support to you or someone you are concerned about, we will be able to give you appropriate contact information. We are also able to act, with other bodies, to develop services to meet identified need.

If you have a difficulty or concern, the Partnership will assist you in finding services or solutions to the problem. Support services for carers are available during the Partnership opening times. Leaflets on all support services are available including the Partnership produced 'Activities and Services for Older People' leaflet. These and Transport Information leaflets are also available from the Library.

If you are interested to volunteer in the community, the Partnership can give you information and contacts.

Little Footsteps, offers activities, support, information services and drop-in facilities, provided by the Children & Family Centre team from Tuesday to Friday.
