55. To Approve and Sign the Minutes of the last Meeting held on the 12th September, 2007. The minutes were duly APPROVED as being a correct record of the proceedings thereat and were signed by the Chairman.
56. Matters Arising :-
(a) Minute No. 49: Litter Picking and Cleansing. A meeting had been held with Officers of H.D.C. H.D.C., were coming into partnership with this Council to ensure that the cleansing was undertaken properly by using their facilities and manpower to ensure it was done to an acceptable standard. They would take account of extra areas covered and try to assist in getting it more efficient.
57. Storrington Pond Update. The latest situation was that DWF Solicitors had written to Homeserve, but unfortunately that company had moved. However, they had now faxed a copy of the relevant correspondence to their representative at their new premises and would advise the Council when they heard from them. Cunningham and Lindsey had confirmed that it was Homeserve that notified them of the potential involvement of British Gas. The matter therefore rested on the evidence from Homeserve.
58. Christmas Decorations and Late Night Shopping Event. STAG were not in a position to become the Council’s contractors to undertake the whole project this year. They would be collecting donations from traders and using this money to fund the entertainment for the Late Night Shopping Event. They would arrange to erect the little trees and get the lights put up on these. The advertising of the event would also be undertaken by STAG, who would also find volunteers to help with the road closures on the night, but they insist that there is a Parish Councillor present to oversee this and to say where everything needed to go. It was AGREED :-
An e-mail should be sent to all Councillors asking for a volunteer to oversee the road closures, etc.
59. Documents Available for Councillors to Read :-
(a) DEFRA Parish Council guide of ‘Ways to tackle climate change’.
Chairman’s Announcements.
60. Sunday Bus Services 100 & 102. The Stagecoach bus service between Burgess Hill/Storrington/Pulborough (Sundays only) had been withdrawn from the 7th October, 2007 due to lack of passenger numbers and funding. The Mondays to Saturdays service was unaffected.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 7.12p.m.
