Opening Riverside walk

A dream come true...

The long awaited Storrington Riverside Walk extension which links the Hormare Estate with the village centre was officially opened at the end of October by the Chairman of Horsham District Council, Cllr Keith Wilkins. It had always been an aspiration that the Riverside Walk by the side of the River Stor, completed in 1991, would one day be extended from Spierbridge Road along to Hormare. Well, 18 years later, thanks to the Storrington Conservation Society and the Council this has now been achieved. This new link will help develop countryside access, and connect with several existing public rights of way. There are stretches of boardwalk over the boggy sections and many new bridges on this delightful walk winding through the woodland by the river. Now the focus will shift to the Storrington Mill Pond, which is shortly to be dredged. Horsham District Council is working with the Storrington Conservation Society to secure further landscaping improvements in the area.
