Message from the new Storrington & Sullington Parish Council chairman

Parish Council chairman letterhead

To the Storrington & Sullington Parish Community

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks at the Parish Hall which has seen a number of resignations including the Chair and Parish Clerk.

Firstly, I’d like to thank all those that have chosen to leave, their contribution to the Parish and the community over the years has been immense. We wish them all the very best and I know they will continue to contribute significantly to the community.

Particular thanks go to Anna Worthington-Leese, the outgoing Chair and Tracey Euesden, the outgoing Parish Clerk. Both have been long standing members of the Parish Council and both of whom many of you will know.

At the Extraordinary Parish Council meeting held on the 13th December I’m delighted to announce that Lauren Hansing, who has been working alongside Tracey Euesden as Assistant Clerk for the past 2 years, has accepted the position of Parish Clerk and will commence her duties on January 1st 2024.

I have been voted into the role of Chair until May 2024. The appointment of Chair is subject to a vote by the council at the AGM in May every year. Paul Oakham has been voted in as Vice Chair.

Change is never easy I know, but the Parish Council is embracing the changes and over the coming weeks I will be updating the community on any reorganisation and on our focus and vision going forward into 2024 and beyond.

I will also be updating the community on the role of the Parish Council i.e. the powers and responsibilities we have and don’t have.

The Parish Council is a mixture of paid employees and, in the case of the Councillors, volunteers. However, we are all members of the community and look forward to working with everyone to achieve our common goals.

We look forward to welcoming you to our meetings, many of which are open to the public, and we especially look forward to your comments and ideas.

It only remains to say that, on behalf of myself and all the councillors and staff at the Parish Council, we wish you a very happy, peaceful and enjoyable festive season and look forward to working with you in 2024.

Cllr Mark Cramer
