JOBS HELP AND ADVICE FOR STORRINGTON

A local group from Job Centre Plus, Storrington Community Partnership and Action in Rural Sussex has formed to increase opportunities for local unemployed people of all ages and backgrounds to find jobs and training opportunities.  This project will be targeted at those living and working in the Storrington and Sullington area. 

The first action the group want to achieve is to launch a regular Job Centre Plus outreach in Storrington in February 2010.   

As the project gathers momentum it is planned to also include;

• Additional social and community support for local people seeking employment and training opportunities, also including integration with support agencies (Citizens Advice Bureau, Benefits Office, Housing etc)
   
• Practical help to overcome barriers to attending additional local training eg finding transport.
  
  
• Setting up of a group of lone home-workers to provide them with social support, increased access to training and a  forum for debate and discussion.
  
  
• Research with local employers and businesses about the skills they need, how to recruit locally, forming links with schools and colleges, and how to get involved in community initiatives.
