Esther Collins, Textile Courses and WorkshopsTextile and Mixed Media Artist based in West Sussex, United Kingdom. Workshops and Tutoring.Notes
I am a textile and mixed media artist who combines fabric, paper and stitch. I enjoy dying and printing my own fabric and paper and work using both machine embroidery and hand stitching, building up textile collages and machine embroidered pictures and vessels.
Based in West Sussex, sources of inspiration include the natural environment, walking in the South Downs and local history. With a background in history of art and graphic design, I also enjoy referencing artists and historical design in my work. Sketchbooks, experimentation and making samples are an important part of my design process. I love colour and exploring the many ways it can be used as an expressive part of design.
I have worked as a qualified Adult Education Tutor since 2008 and in 2019 I took the decision to work independently, running workshops from my home studio in West Sussex, where I teach various courses in machine embroidery and textile art. It is my aim to encourage and facilitate others to embrace their creativity and learn new techniques in a supportive, nurturing and inspiring environment. I always teach in small groups and believe that being creative and learning new skills throughout life, is an essential part of personal fulfilment and well being.
As a practising Artist, I also bring my own experiences and artistic development to my classes. I seek to learn and modify new techniques, which I love to teach to others in a spirit of exploration and play. Teaching from my studio, I have easy access to all my samples and allow students to learn in a calm and inspiring environment. I am a member of the Society for Embroidered Work, the Textile Society and regularly sell and exhibit my work.

South East Climate Alliance (SECA) Contact: Sally BarnardNotes
The South East Climate Alliance (SECA) is a coalition of local environmental, community and faith groups from the South East of England uniting for urgent action on climate change. It acts as an informal umbrella group and has been set up to share ideas and coordinate action.
SECA was set up in February 2019 and hold regular meetings. The SECA Steering Group is made up of volunteers from member organisations. Groups affiliated with SECA remain autonomous and will continue to take their own decisions. Some will adopt traditional community organising approaches; others may prefer a non-violent direct action approach, as is being championed by the Extinction Rebellion movement. SECA is not responsible for the actions of its individual member groups, nor is it affiliated to any political party. We have pledged to take a deliberately cross-party approach in our campaigning as we believe that the issue of climate change goes way beyond party politics.

Storrington & Arun Valley Regional Group has recently been formed with events planned from September 2021 onwards.
The new group will support SWT in its local communities by communicating, ‘localising’ and implementing the Trust’s strategy, plans and objectives. We expect to provide direct and tangible support ‘on the ground’ to SWT’s key initiatives and projects – including specialist species expertise, physical habitat improvement and other aspects where the group is able to do so.
The group will work closely with existing wildlife and conservation groups and societies, actively seeking ways in which we can collaborate for the benefit of wildlife and the
environment.

The Food Resilience Project
The Food Resilience Project Contact: Adam StarkNotes
The Cootham Food Resilience Project has recently been established and is already proving very popular for the area’s experienced and aspiring growers of fruit and veg. Whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines, members from Dukes Row, Cootham Green and New Town Road are aspiring to increase awareness of our reliance on and the ecological effects of the global food supply chains, as well as our inherent human need to interact with our environment intellectually as well as physically. The Cootham group is hoping that other groups will be created within and around Storrington and Parham, supporting the national Food Resilience Project initiative and local communities to thrive.

Chanctonbury Chorus
Chanctonbury ChorusNotes
The Chanctonbury Chorus is a well established group of about 50 singers who enjoy getting together weekly to rehearse a big choral masterpiece. Our weekly rehearsals take place in the Steyning Lower Grammar School, Church St., Steyning, BN44 3YH where we are based but our singers come from all around the local area. We perform with our orchestra 2 or 3 times a year – often this is in the Steyning Parish Church but we also sing in Lancing College Chapel and other local venues.
