MESSAGE FROM HORSHAM DISTRICT COUNCIL ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES
Refuse, recycling and cleansing: a further update
HORSHAM District Council is today giving a further update on its refuse, recycling and cleansing services.
All of the services have been affected by the recent severe weather.
The Council has recommenced collections today (Monday 11 January) picking up domestic refuse, whilst giving priority to properties that have been waiting the longest.
Much will depend on the ease of access to each property.
Residents awaiting a collection are asked to put out their residual waste (green lidded) bin for collection now and it will be emptied as soon as possible.
Horsham District Council will also be collecting clinical waste and emptying litter bins and glass banks as soon as possible.
This will unfortunately mean that the collection of baskets of newspapers and magazines from Wednesday to Friday and mixed dry recycling from blue-topped bins are suspended and will resume once residual (green lidded) bin collections have caught up.
>From Monday 11 January, the Council will also collect trade waste, again giving priority to customers who have been waiting the longest.
In addition, Horsham District Council is providing collections each day this week (11-15 January) for residents, where they can take refuse in black sacks. Collections are being made daily this week in the following places:
Southwater, beside Beeson House, Lintot Square – 9am to 11am
Horsham, Pavilions in the Park car park, Hurst Road – 12pm to 2pm
Steyning, St Cuthman’s car park – 9am to 11am
Henfield, bus lay-by next to Wantley Hill estate – 12pm to 2pm
Storrington, Chanctonbury Leisure Centre car park – 9am to 11am
Ashington, bottom end of The Sands – 12pm to 2pm
Glass banks - collections will be made from main sites only.
Litter bins - Horsham District Council’s cleansing crews will aim to empty all of the litter bins in the main village high streets and recycling centres. Horsham town centre’s litter bins will also be emptied along with more de-icing in the town.
Cesspool emptying – an emergency service only is being provided. Please call Horsham District Council on 01403 733144 if required.
Street sweeping and litter picking schedules will recommence as soon as it is safe to do so.
In the event of further disruption, the situation outlined above will be reviewed but the Council will run the collections at the six sites identified above as a priority.
