Future Plans

We go in to the next phase of our Higher Level Stewardship scheme, in which we will look to expand the heathland element of both Warren Hill and Sullington Warren, and to change the age structure of the heather on Sullington Warren to make it more resilient to environmental threats such as the heather beetle.

We will continue to graze Old Washington Common and the Rough Land with Belted Galloway cattle and with sheep. Via the path network we will create stronger links between Warren Hill and Sullington Warren.

Chanctonbury Chorus Summer Concert @ St. Andrew's Church
May 13 @ 7:30 pm

Chanctonbury Chorus

May 13th 7.30pm is a special date for your diaries as the Chanctonbury Chorus and Orchestra will be performing their popular summer concert at St Andrew and St Cuthman’s Church in Steyning.

In a mixed programme the concert will feature popular soloist soprano Lucy Mair singing Korngold’s Four Shakespeare Songs. The Chorus and Orchestra will perform Franz Schubert’s Mass in C, Vaughn Williams’s “In Windsor Forest”, Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium and Sullivan’s The Long Day Closes amongst other part songs.

Tickets cost £14.00 and will be on sale from April 5th at the Steyning bookshop, from members of the chorus and online at www.chanctonburychorus.org.

Last year’s concerts were almost sold out. Founder and conductor Siobhan Denning said: “the popularity of our Steyning concerts is down to a combination of the venue’s unique surroundings, a programme of music which reaches out to its audience and the enthusiasm and professionalism of the choir who are all from the local community.”
