As part of the South Downs Dark Skies festival, join Amberley Museum from the 19th to the 27th of February for a half term full of activities and crafts all about the night sky.
Enjoy rides on our trains and buses, get stuck in with craft activities (weekdays only) or explore our family trail, all included in your general admission price.

Saturday 5th Feb. 2:00pm Thakeham Circular 3 miles 1.5 hrs
Walk 2040. Meet in Thakeham Church car park, RH20 3EP. This popular short walk explores the tracks, footpaths and byways north of Thakeham Village. Parts of this route can be wet and muddy. Dogs welcome.
Refreshments provided. Not suitable for buggies as the route includes stiles. Mick 01903 745971
Sunday, 6th Feb. 10:00am Findon Valley and Chanctonbury Ring 6.5 miles 2.5 hrs
Walk 3015. After a steep climb, we explore downland taking in Findon Park, Chanctonbury Ring and the South Downs Way. Great views. Refreshments provided at the end of the walk. Meet at Washington South Downs Way car park (TQ120119). Drive south on the A24 from Washington roundabout and take the first left into Washington Borstal, then first right into the car park. Walk 2042. Meet at Storrington Rec. Ground C.P Car Park RH20 4BG. This lovely short walk offers uninterrupted views towards the South Downs as route goes through Fryern Park with its landscaped pleasure gardens and waterfall. Some stiles. Dogs welcome. Refreshments provided. Mick 01903 745971
Sunday, 13th Feb. 10:00am Houghton Forest & Bignor Hill 5 miles 2.5 hrs
Walk 3022. This walk takes in the South Downs Way, Monarch’s Way, Bignor Hill and Houghton Forest. It affords wonderful views over Bury and Bignor, and includes a steep hill. Dogs welcome. Refreshments provided after the walk. Meet at the car park just off the Whiteways roundabout at the junction of the A29 and A284, BN18 9FD. Mick 01903 745971

Walk 1507. Meet at Storrington Recreation Ground Car Park, RH20 4PG. Come and explore Storrington’s Riverside Walk. This flat, well surfaced walk is ideal for people who want an easy walk with pleasant views.

Walk 2037. Meet at Storrington Recreation Ground Car Park RH20 4BG. This is a short walk towards the bottom of the South Downs escarpment, it then returns via the Church and Glebe Meadow. Dogs welcome.

Thursday, 24th Feb. 10:00am West Chiltington (1) 4 – 5 miles 2 hrs
Walk 2082. Meet in the public car park adjacent to West Chiltington Village Hall, Mill Rd, RH20 2PZ, (TQ083179). Various routes exploring West Chiltington and the surrounding area. Moderate slopes, some stiles, no dogs please as a number of the routes pass through fields with livestock.

Saturday 26th Feb. 2:00pm Lee Farm (1) 4.5 miles 2 hrs
Walk 3010. Meet at Kithurst Hill car park (TQ070124). This walk takes us to historic Lee Farm in the heart of the South Downs behind Storrington. The Car Park is off the Storrington to Amberley Road (B2139). Take the left turn 1.3 miles from Tesco’s roundabout, Storrington. After taking the turning, drive to the Car Park at the very top of the hill. Dogs welcome. Refreshments provided. Mick 01903 745971

Join us for some half term fun with stories and crafts at Storrington Library. Suitable for children aged 3 – 8 years. Booking is essential, as limited places are available. Tickets are free, just pop into the library or call 01903 839050 to book your place! Parents and carers must remain with their child during this activity.
