Conservation morning at Sandgate Park – Saturday 23rd March 2024 at 10am

Come along and help take care of this Local Wildlife Site. Usual tasks include cutting back the invasive Rhododendron Ponticum, clearing paths, clearing the streams and other work using hand tools.

Tools are provided but it is recommended that you bring your own gloves (though if you forget gloves should be available). Also, please bring your own refreshment for the mid-morning break.

We usually meet at the old bench opposite the heather mound on the path from the gate into the park partway up Sandgate Lane, opposite the cut through from Hillside Road (what3words bench location is approximately mulls.splice.dislikes ) . Please be prompt as if we have moved on to our worksite by the time you have arrived you may find it difficult to find us.

Please check our website or our Facebook page before you set out on the day in case the meeting place has changed and in case of cancellation (e.g. due to bad weather).

Note that Sandgate Park is the wooded area owned and managed by Horsham District Council, not the grassland area, owned and managed by CEMEX.

We work until noon with a short break at around 11am.

All welcome – you do not have to be a member of Sandgate Conservation Society (though we will probably try to persuade you to join). Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult unless agreed in advance with the Society (this is for health & safety and insurance reasons).
