The most common path for formal education in the area is to attend a neighbourhood primary school and progress at age 11 to Steyning Grammar School. There are other possible paths which could, for instance, include the Weald Community School and Sixth Form, Billingshurst for secondary education.
The local primary schools together with Steyning Grammar School belong to a cluster group of schools called STARS [Storrington Area Rural Schools].
The STARS Locality of Schools are:
Amberley CE Primary School
Ashington CE Primary School
Steyning Grammar School
St Mary’s CE PrimarySchool, Washington
Storrington Primary School
Thakeham Primary School
West Chiltington Community School.
There are excellent links between these schools. The STARS Headteachers, curriculum subject leaders and year 5 and 6 teachers regularly meet to arrange and coordinate transfer events as well as activities for the pupils. Examples of this include cross phase units of work in literacy and numeracy, sports galas, enrichment days for able pupils, a history day and in-service days providing professional development opportunities for both teachers and teaching assistants.
In the next section of the page you will find the information provided by government and other agencies to help you select appropriate facilities and services.
Below that is a directory of local schools and colleges.
