Council Members Update
Mark Cramer, Chairman for the Parish Council has welcomed three new councillors this summer; Brian Sadler, Tony Mills and Virginia Hicks. An election is also underway for a further two vacancies. We would like to thank outgoing councillors Leanne Grace and Liz Greengrass who have moved on from their valued service to the council.
Traffic Update
Over the past 18 months, our Parish Council has been exploring improvements to traffic and transport across Storrington, Sullington and Cootham. Several projects have been scoped in that time which we believe would benefit the community. These included pedestrian crossings on Amberley Road, School Hill, Manley’s Hill and Spierbridge Road, safer pavements and footways at various locations around the village, the exploration of 20mph area(s), and safe school routes (led by WSCC). We are able to apply to Community Highway Scheme (CHS) for the consideration of one project annually and we prioritised the speed limit in the interest of the health and safety of the community.
An Extraordinary Parish Council meeting was held in late July to discuss this approach and the council welcomed participation by several residents with various views, comments, and concerns. In conclusion, it was agreed by the council for this year to proceed with the speed limit proposal for appropriate road(s) across our villages and the formal submission was made on 31 July. Later in the autumn, we will hear if our proposal is being assessed for feasibility and ultimately approved. The community will be consulted on the scheme before Highways make a final decision.
Events
On local events, the Warden’s Fun Day took place on 18th August and was a great success particularly with families. The event was supported by local sponsorship and volunteers including several of the councillors.

Another date for your diary is the Storkfest 2026 which is now scheduled for Saturday 23rd May.
Local volunteers are welcome to get involved in all our events.
Refurbishments
We are pleased that refurbishment works are underway this summer around the ageing Memorial Pond, located on the west end of the village and near the cricket ground. And, nearby the ancient and neglected bench close to Teso Express has been transformed this summer, see before and after. We will be working on others!
