All At Sea Concert – Sunday October 10th at 3pm, Sullington Manor Farm, Tithe Barn
What better way could you spend a Sunday afternoon than heading across the fields to Sullington Manor Farm and sitting down to listen to a lively concert in the Tithe Barn there? If you bring £5 with you, you can also get a drink and cake in the interval provided by the Workshop Cafe.
The All At Sea concert on 10th October, at 3pm is the culmination of a project whereby the Sussex Folk Orchestra adopted a composer through the organisation, ‘Making Music.’ (see poster for more details)
Our composer Jonathan Brigg, was inspired by the sea and has written a suite of five tunes which really capture the mood. There is the melancholic beginning of ‘Maiden Voyage’ to the hauntingly beautiful ‘Sea of Solitude’ at the end, and on the way the jauntiness of ‘Gone to Sea’ the edgyness of ‘Smugglers’ and the rippling water effect in ‘Free as Waves.’ Jonathan has managed to fuse catchy melodies with his take on harmonies.
There are also sea themed tunes and songs from the folk world and, local historian, Chris Hare will be adding stories of smuggling in this area. His book ‘Secret Shore’ will be for sale priced £10.
All proceeds are going to Olly’s Future – a suicide prevention charity.
Please purchase concert tickets on line at www.ticketsource.co.uk/sussex-folk-orchestra. It is really helpful for setting up a Covid secure concert to know audience size in advance.
