SAVRG meeting 29/10/21

Wilder Horsham District is a ground-breaking five-year initiative between Horsham District Council and the Sussex Wildlife Trust and is expected to become a ‘blueprint’ for how to boost nature recovery in the county.

We are delighted to announce the next indoor meeting of Sussex Wildlife Trust Storrington and Arun Valley Regional Group will take place on the 29th October at Pulborough Village Hall. Richard Black and Chloe Harrison from the Wilder Horsham District Team will be providing insight into this thrilling project.

The meeting is open to the public. Tickets cost £5 from Eventbrite see Tickets above.

Most people agree that wildlife and wild places are valuable for their own sake. We now know from research across the globe that a healthy, wildlife-rich natural world is essential for our wellbeing and prosperity.

But wildlife has been in decline, on land and at sea, for decades. Wild places are more scarce, smaller and more isolated. There is less nature and greenery in the places where we live and work. And not everyone has equal access to nature or the benefits it brings. To reverse this decline, better and more connected habitats are needed.

Developing a Nature Recovery Network (NRN) underpins the Wilder Horsham District Project, which is a partnership between Sussex Wildlife Trust and Horsham District Council. The goal of the Project is to work with land – managers and communities at all levels, right across the district to help integrate nature recovery and connectivity into the many land-uses which exist across the District.

The Horsham NRN map demonstrates what could be achieved and where actions could be targeted to reverse the biodiversity crisis. Richard and Chloe are the project officers tasked with developing the project and we have invited them to present the very latest developments in the Wilder Horsham District Project.

Come and learn more about this exciting project.
