People gave generously to Rotary’s Nepal-Tibet Floods collections in Storrington.
Spurred on by recent tragic events in Nepal and Tibet, Storrington & Pulborough District Rotary Club members collected £1,383 from a very generous public many of whom had a real affection for the Nepalese people and the Ghurkas.
On Friday 4th and Saturday 5th August collections were made in Old Mill Square Storrington and at the August Boot fair in the Library Car Park.
The Club is to top up the monies collected and a donation of £2,000 is being made to Shelterbox, Rotary’s global partner in disaster response, which provides emergency shelter, items and tools for families robbed of their homes by disaster – transforming their despair into hope.
Rotary Club’s International lead Frances Craig, commented “It is difficult to imagine the suffering of the people caught up in this tragedy and we grateful to local Storrington folk for their support in our emergency collections”.
