Neighbourhood Plan Referendum

“Do you want Horsham District Council and South Downs National Park Authority to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Storrington and Sullington Parish, and Washington Parish to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

On 18 July 2019, there will be a referendum on a neighbourhood development plan for Storrington and Sullington Parish and Washington Parish. If you vote in the referendum you will receive a ballot paper with this question.

To see the Plan and full supporting documents go to this page on the Storrington & Sullington Parish Council website: REFERENDUM

A Neighbourhood Plan is a way of helping local communities to influence the planning of the area in which they live and work.

Below are some key details taken from INFORMATION FOR VOTERS

If more people vote ‘yes’ than ‘no’ in this referendum, then Horsham District Council and South Downs National Park Authority will use the Neighbourhood Development Plan to help it decide planning applications in Storrington and Sullington Parish, and Washington Parish.

If more people vote ‘no’ than ‘yes’, then planning applications will be decided without using the Neighbourhood Development Plan as part of the Development Plan for the local area.

Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm (it is also possible to vote by post or by proxy):

  • In Storrington the polling station is Storrington Leisure Centre, Spierbridge Road, Storrington, RH20 4BG.
  • In Sullington the polling station is Sullington Parish Hall, Thakeham Road, RH20 3PP.
  • In Washington the polling station is Washington Memorial Hall, School Lane, RH20 4AP.
