A Press Release from Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary
Anna Upton is the new President of Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary.
Anna was born in England but her parents and family come from Latvia, having arrived in this country after the war.
She studied Mathematics at the University of Exeter working mainly around academia in administrative and management. After early years in a College of Further Education, she spent 20 years working for the Royal Society of Chemistry, becoming Membership Affairs Manager.
Her final 14 years were spent working as a Consultant for the British Mass Spectrometry Society achieving the high point of her career running their hugely successful International Mass Spectrometry Conference.
She met her husband Paul in 2008 and when they both retired they moved down to Storrington
Anna had never come across Rotary before. Her neighbour took her down to the Rotary Club within a week of moving in. She has not looked back since becoming Hon. Secretary in 2018 and serving as such for 6 years.
She comments, that “Being involved with a club that is so active, lively, hard working and enthusiastic, is great. It is so worthwhile being able to contribute to supporting local communities, in Storrington and Pulborough and the surrounding villages. It was such a wonderful way to join in with other groups and meet people, many of whom are now friends”.
When not involved with Rotary activities, Anna and Paul enjoy, amongst other things, walking, going to the theatre and concerts – all so well served in Sussex.
