Silver Gilt for St Mary’s Storrington churchyard

Posted by Post Contributor in All, Community, Storrington.

St Mary's Storrington

South and South East In Bloom – St Mary’s Church Storrington

South and South East in Bloom covers a very extensive area, with entries coming from Bournemouth in the West and Dover to the east, and many towns and villages in between that are south of the Thames.

As most people will know, Storrington in Bloom decided not to enter the general competition this year as it was felt too much pressure was being placed on the limited number of volunteers, however every effort was made to ensure a colourful display was provided for the village centre.

St Mary’s Church however, decided to continue to enter the churchyard having been quite successful over the last few years, achieving Best Churchyard in 2015, a Gold medal result in 2017 and generally silver gilt awards for most of the previous entries.

This year we again achieved a Silver Gilt award and were only 2 points short of a gold.

The Churchyard is generally maintained by a number of volunteers who do strive to ensure that the churchyard provides a clean and tidy area for quiet contemplation yet still allows for wildlife to live. We hope, and believe, that the residents of Storrington do appreciate our efforts.
